Church World Service Launches New family website for alternative holiday gift giving

New York, NY. As this holiday season approaches, humanitarian organization Church World Service announces “Build a Village” (http://www.buildavillage.org) - a new, animated, on-line resource.  Interactive, playful, and informative, Build a Village is a gateway for the whole family to learn more about the world, the work of Church World Service (CWS), and the many ways they can help the most vulnerable.

In the Build a Village website, visitors can learn about the CWS Tools and Blankets Program., which This program helps to meet immediate and long-term needs of people in crisis: from blankets, tents, and emergency supplies in the wake of disaster to material assistance, education and training, and small enterprise loans as part of sustainable development programs.

“For the person who has everything, why not give them a gift that will help someone less fortunate? A gift through the Tools and Blankets Program is the perfect alternative to store-bought gifts. It’s easy and personal, and you learn while you look!,” said the Rev. Peter D. Crouch, Chief Development Officer for CWS.

Imani, the giraffe mascot from the humanitarian agency’s children’s curriculum, serves as narrator and guide.  The site contains facts, games, stories, and a catalogue of gifts that make a difference.  Meet Imani, explore his village, and make a difference in people’s lives.  This holiday season skip the malls and visit the Village!
