Cocoa Beach, Fla—At the aftermath of the second hurricane in less than a month, Florida churches recently hit by Hurricane Charley are reaching out to help the neighboring churches hit by Frances. Although Frances, which hit Florida on Sept 5-6, was less damaging and costly than Charley, it still managed to knock off steeples and roofs from area churches. According to the Associated Press, the Church of Christ in West Palm Beach gave the Church of Christ in Port Charlotte aid and food three weeks ago at the wake of Charley. Now, the Port Charlotte church is returning the favor. The Reverend Rob Combs, pastor at Port Charlotte, said he would take food, water and ice to the West Palm Beach church because “they came and helped us.”
Combs said he is planning to ship over the 600 boxes of food left over from relief that was sent after Charley, as well as the generators that the West Palm Beach church supplied when electricity was lost at his church.
