40,000 Churches Worldwide Confirm Participation In This Call to Prayer To Be Held In Jerusalem, Israel

JERUSALEM, Israel —More than over 40,000 churches globally have confirmed their participation to mark the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, said Rev. Robert Stearns, co-chairman of the October 3 event to be held near the Knesset parliament building in Jerusalem, Israel.

“Our website has received 1 million hits in the last three weeks alone, with a new city, state, and national coordinators being added daily. We are expecting millions from around the world to be praying on the first Sunday of October, and thousands to be at the prayer gathering in Jerusalem,” said Stearns in a press release received by ASSIST News Service (ANS).

The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, which is being called for the first Sunday of every October, has garnered the active support of such evangelical leaders of influence as Ted Haggard, Jack Hayford, Glenn Plummer, Ravi Zacharias, Jane Hansen, Benny Hinn, and hundreds of others.

Leadership of the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem announced that Dr. Pat Robertson, a leading evangelical figure, will be the keynote speaker at a massive gathering to be held in Jerusalem on Sunday, October 3.

“We are honored by Dr. Robertson’s participation in this historic prayer gathering,” said Rev. Robert Stearns, co-chairman of the event.

“We can think of no more appropriate leader to address this event than Dr. Robertson, who has lived a life of spiritual passion, moral clarity, sound thinking, and influenced millions around the world to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”

While Pat Robertson will speak at this public celebration in Sacher Park on October 3 in Jerusalem near the Knesset, Stearns stated that the real purpose of the movement is the prayer observance in thousands of local churches around the world.

“This is a grassroots movement. Local churches are making use of the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem posters, prayer cards, and other materials to help their prayer time be informed and biblical. We have confirmed participation in 50 nations,” he noted.

Asked about the Jewish response, Stearns responded, “We are very encouraged. In addition to Benjamin Netanyahu, Natan Sharansky, and the Chief Rabbi of Israel, the Christian Allies Caucus of the Knesset has endorsed the event and will be attending the October 3 gathering, as will many leading rabbis. We believe this gathering is evidence of a new day in Jewish-Christian relations.”

The event in Jerusalem is open to the public.
